All-on-4 Full-Arch Implants
Four implants per jaw support a fixed bridge of 10 to 14 teeth. A temporary bridge goes in within days; the final one follows 3 to 6 months later.
Quick facts
- Korean name: 올온포 임플란트
- Procedure time: About 2 to 4 hours per arch including extractions
- Anesthesia: Local anaesthesia, commonly with IV sedation
- Sessions: Planning visit, surgery, temporary bridge fitting, several checks, then final bridge 3 to 6 months later
- Downtime: About 1 week of swelling and bruising; soft diet for 2 to 3 months on the temporary bridge
- Results: Fixed temporary teeth within days; final bridge after 3 to 6 months
- Lasts: Implants can last many years; the bridge may need repair or remaking after 10 to 15 years, sooner for acrylic teeth
What is All-on-4 Implants?
All-on-4 replaces a whole upper or lower arch with a fixed bridge screwed onto four implants. The two back implants are tilted, which lets the surgeon use the bone at the front of the jaw and often avoid bone grafts or a sinus lift.
It suits people who have lost most of their teeth or wear a full denture. The bridge is fixed in place and only the dentist removes it for cleaning.
How it works
After a CT scan and planning, remaining failing teeth are extracted and four implants are placed in one surgery. If the implants are stable enough, a temporary acrylic bridge is attached within about 1 to 3 days.
The bone heals around the implants over 3 to 6 months. The temporary bridge is then replaced with a final bridge, often zirconia or a metal frame with ceramic or acrylic teeth.
Who it suits
- People missing most or all teeth in one arch
- Denture wearers who want a fixed option
- Patients with bone loss in the back of the jaw who want to avoid grafting
- Those who can return for the final bridge 3 to 6 months later
Who should skip it or wait
- People who need only one or two teeth replaced
- Patients with very little bone even at the front of the jaw
- Heavy smokers or people with uncontrolled diabetes
- Anyone unable to keep up professional cleanings every 6 months
Side effects and risks
- One implant failing, which can put the whole bridge at risk
- Fracture of the temporary bridge if hard food is chewed
- Peri-implantitis around the implants
- Speech changes in the first weeks
- Food trapping under the bridge
Aftercare
- Eat only soft food on the temporary bridge
- Use a water flosser and interdental brushes daily
- Avoid smoking for the full healing period
- Attend checks at 1 week and 1 month
- Plan professional cleaning with the bridge removed about once a year
Planning around your trip
Allow about 7 to 10 days in Seoul for surgery and the temporary bridge, and plan a second trip of about a week for the final bridge 3 to 6 months later.

All-on-4 Implants questions
Do I leave Seoul with fixed teeth or a gap?
In most cases a fixed temporary bridge is attached within about 1 to 3 days, so you leave with teeth. If the implants are not stable enough, the dentist may use a denture first.
Why are the back implants placed at an angle?
Tilting them lets longer implants anchor in the front part of the jaw and avoids the sinus in the upper jaw or the nerve in the lower jaw.
How is All-on-4 different from an implant denture?
An implant overdenture clips on and you remove it at night. An All-on-4 bridge is screwed in and stays in place.
Can I eat normally on the temporary bridge?
No. Keep to soft food for the first 2 to 3 months, as the bone is still fusing to the implants.
Is four implants always enough?
Not always. With soft bone, some surgeons place five or six implants for extra support. This is decided from the CT scan.
Does a Korean clinic quote both arches together?
Many quote per arch. Ask whether extractions, the temporary bridge and the final bridge material are included.
