What is Fat-dissolving Injection?

Fat-dissolving injections, called 윤곽주사 (contour injections) in Korea, target small fat pockets that do not respond to diet. Popular areas are the double chin, jowls, cheeks near the mouth and small body areas.

Many Korean clinics use their own cocktails that often contain PPC (phosphatidylcholine) and deoxycholic acid. Kybella, a deoxycholic acid product, is FDA-approved for submental fat. Ask what your clinic's injection contains.

How it works

Deoxycholic acid disrupts fat cell membranes, and the body then clears the debris over several weeks. PPC-based cocktails are milder and need more sessions.

The doctor injects a grid of small shots into the fat layer. Volume ranges from about 5cc to 40cc depending on the area.

What is in a Korean contour injection?

Many contain PPC and deoxycholic acid, sometimes with herbal extracts. Ask the clinic for the exact product name and ingredients.

Is it the same as Kybella?

Kybella is a deoxycholic acid product approved in the US for double chin. Korean clinic cocktails are often different formulas, usually milder with less swelling.

How many sessions does a double chin need?

Can it slim a square jaw?
