What is Fraxel?
Fraxel is a fractional laser brand from Solta Medical. The Fraxel Dual model uses a 1550 nm erbium wavelength for deeper texture and scars and a 1927 nm thulium wavelength for surface pigment and sun damage. It treats microscopic columns of skin and leaves the skin between them intact.
In Apgujeong, Fraxel is chosen for acne scars, enlarged pores and uneven tone by patients who want resurfacing with less downtime than CO2.
How it works
The handpiece rolls across the skin and places thousands of tiny thermal zones. The skin heals each column from the surrounding tissue, replacing damaged collagen and shedding pigment over about a week.

Is Fraxel the same as CO2 fractional laser?
No. Fraxel Dual is non-ablative and keeps the top layer intact, so downtime is shorter. CO2 removes tissue and gives stronger results with more downtime.
How bad is the peeling?
Skin looks sunburned for 2 to 3 days, then turns bronze and flakes off over about a week.
Can Fraxel treat melasma?
It is sometimes used carefully at low settings, but heat can worsen melasma. Toning or Sylfirm X is usually tried first.
Can I wear makeup after Fraxel?
