What is Excel V?

Excel V is a laser platform made by Cutera. It combines a 532 nm green laser that targets superficial vessels and pigment with a 1064 nm Nd:YAG for deeper vessels. A cooled sapphire window protects the skin.

Apgujeong dermatologists use it for redness around the nose and cheeks, visible capillaries and lentigines, often as an alternative to V-beam.

How it works

Hemoglobin in red vessels absorbs the light and heats up, sealing the vessel, which the body then clears. The 532 nm beam also treats surface pigment. Settings can be tuned for diffuse redness or individual vessels.

Excel V questions

Is Excel V better than V-beam?

Both treat redness well. V-beam is a 595 nm pulsed dye laser; Excel V uses 532 and 1064 nm and can also treat brown spots.

Will I bruise after Excel V?

Bruising is uncommon at usual settings, unlike high-energy V-beam.

How many sessions for rosacea redness?

Most patients need 3 to 5 sessions.

Does Excel V hurt?

It feels like a rubber band snap with warmth, and the cooled tip makes it tolerable without numbing for most.

Can Excel V and Genesis be done on the same device?

Yes, the Genesis mode runs on the Excel V platform, so they are often combined in one visit.

Can Excel V treat nose veins?

Yes, the 1064 nm wavelength is used for thicker, deeper vessels around the nose.
