What is LDM Water-drop Lifting?

LDM stands for Local Dynamic Micro-massage. The device is made by Wellcomet, a German company, and uses low-intensity ultrasound at two frequencies, often 3 MHz and 10 MHz. In Korea it is nicknamed 물방울 리프팅 (water-drop lifting).

Despite the 'lifting' name, LDM is a soothing and hydrating treatment, not a tightening device like HIFU or radiofrequency.

How it works

The handpiece glides over a gel and sends rapid pressure changes into the skin. This is thought to improve microcirculation and calm inflammation. It does not heat tissue.

Clinics often add it after lasers, peels or injections to reduce redness, or use it with serums to help them absorb.

Who it suits

  • Redness and sensitivity after laser
  • Dry, dehydrated skin
  • Calming acne-prone skin
  • Add-on to boosters or peels

Who should skip it or wait

  • Sagging skin needing real lifting
  • Over metal implants in the face (ask the doctor)
  • Active infection

Side effects and risks

  • Mild warmth or tingling
  • Temporary redness
  • Very low risk overall

Aftercare

  • Makeup is fine right away
  • Use a hydrating moisturizer
  • Daily SPF

Planning around your trip

LDM is a good add-on after a laser on a sightseeing day because it calms redness with no downtime.

LDM Water-drop Lifting questions

Does LDM actually lift the face?

No. The Korean nickname mentions lifting, but it works on calming and hydration. For lift, look at HIFU or radiofrequency.

Does LDM Water-drop Lifting hurt?

No. Most people feel a light massage and slight warmth.

How often should I do LDM?

Weekly or every two weeks is common for a course. Many clinics include it in packages after other treatments.

Can I do LDM on the same day as Rejuran?

Yes, clinics often use it afterward to reduce swelling and redness.

Why is there no published price for LDM Water-drop Lifting?

LDM is usually sold inside a package or as an add-on, and we could not find a recent stand-alone Gangnam price to quote.

Is LDM the same as HIFU?

No. HIFU focuses heat deep in the tissue to tighten. LDM uses low-intensity ultrasound without heating.
