What is Dermal Filler (Hyaluronic Acid)?

HA filler restores or adds volume with a gel based on hyaluronic acid, a sugar that the skin already contains. Gangnam clinics use it for the forehead, temples, cheeks, nasolabial folds, chin and jawline.

Price depends on brand and cc. Korean fillers such as Neuramis and YVOIRE cost less per cc. Imported brands such as Juvederm (Allergan), Restylane (Galderma) and Belotero (Merz) cost more and are often chosen for delicate areas.

How it works

The doctor injects the gel with a needle or a blunt cannula into the deep fat or onto the bone, depending on the area. The gel holds water and lifts the tissue above it right away.

Because HA can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, a result you dislike, or a lump, can be corrected.

Dermal Filler (Hyaluronic Acid) questions

How many cc do I need for a chin?

A small chin projection often takes 1-2cc. A forehead usually needs 3-6cc, so ask for a per-area estimate rather than a single cc price.

Can filler be removed if I don't like it?

HA filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, usually within 24-48 hours. Non-HA fillers such as Radiesse or Sculptra cannot be dissolved this way.

What is the risk of blindness with filler?

It is very rare but documented when filler enters an artery around the nose or brow. Choose a doctor who uses a cannula where suitable and keeps hyaluronidase on hand.

Are Korean fillers safe?

Brands such as Neuramis, YVOIRE and Chaeum are approved by Korea's MFDS and used across Asia. They tend to cost less than imported brands.

Why does the same clinic list very different prices per cc?

The cheapest price usually applies to a Korean brand in an easy area such as cheeks. Imported fillers and areas like the nose or under-eyes cost more.

Can I get filler and Botox the same day?

Yes, many patients combine them. Toxin for wrinkles and filler for volume work on different problems.

Can I fly the day after filler?

Short flights are usually fine, but swelling can worsen in cabin pressure. Waiting 48 hours is a sensible margin.
