What is Botox (Wrinkle Toxin)?

Wrinkle Botox is the most common injectable in Apgujeong and Sinsa clinics. A doctor places small doses of botulinum toxin into the muscles that create expression lines, usually the forehead, the frown area between the brows and the crow's feet.

Gangnam clinics stock several brands. Korean toxins such as Botulax (Hugel), Nabota (Daewoong) and Meditoxin or Coretox (Medytox) cost less, while imported options such as Botox (Allergan) and Xeomin (Merz) cost more. Ask which brand and how many units you are getting before you pay.

How it works

Botulinum toxin blocks the nerve signal that tells a muscle to contract. When the muscle relaxes, the skin above it folds less, so dynamic lines soften. Static lines that are visible at rest improve more slowly and may need a skin booster or laser as well.

Each area takes a few injection points with a fine needle. The effect starts in 2 to 7 days and peaks around 2 weeks.

Botox (Wrinkle Toxin) questions

How many units does a forehead and frown area usually need?

Many Gangnam doctors use about 10-20 units for the frown area and 6-15 units for the forehead, depending on muscle strength. Women with small foreheads often need less.

Is the Korean toxin as good as imported Botox?

Korean brands such as Nabota, Botulax and Meditoxin are approved by Korea's MFDS for glabellar lines and are widely used. Some patients prefer purified products such as Xeomin to lower the chance of antibody resistance after many years of treatment.

Why is wrinkle Botox in Seoul so cheap?

Domestic toxin brands are made in Korea and clinics compete heavily on entry prices. Check the brand and unit count, since a very low price may mean fewer units or a diluted dose.

Does the listed price include VAT?

Most Gangnam price lists exclude the 10% VAT on cosmetic procedures. The tourist VAT refund for cosmetic treatments expired at the end of 2025, and a bill to restore it was only proposed in 2026, so plan to pay the full amount.

Can I wear makeup after Botox (Wrinkle Toxin)?

Light makeup is usually fine after a few hours. Avoid pressing hard on the injected spots with a brush or sponge on day one.

What happens if my brows feel heavy?

Heaviness usually eases within 2-4 weeks as the toxin settles. A doctor can sometimes add a tiny dose to lift the brow tail, which is another reason to stay for a check.
